Located at the edge between the built environment of Aktaio and the natural landscape of the nearby stream, the house is conceived as a spatial threshold — a point where the intensity of everyday urban life meets the stillness of nature.
Responding to this condition, the architecture turns inward, creating a protected domestic environment. Rather than projecting itself outward, the building adopts a deliberately introverted character, forming a quiet refuge within the urban context.
A monolithic envelope of exposed concrete defines the external appearance of the house. This outer layer operates both as a protective shell and as an acoustic and visual boundary, filtering the noise and visual intensity of the surrounding environment. Behind this solid perimeter, the internal life of the house unfolds around courtyards, filtered openings, and layered spatial sequences that gradually reconnect the interior with the landscape.
Concrete establishes the grounded, tectonic presence of the building, reinforcing the sense of permanence and shelter. In contrast, wooden elements and the presence of water introduce a softer and more fluid spatial atmosphere. Light enters the interior through controlled apertures where sunlight, shadow, and sound are carefully mediated.
At the roof level, a water element echoes the nearby stream, creating a subtle spatial and sensory continuity with the surrounding natural environment.
The relationship with the stream is therefore not direct but experiential: the sound of flowing water, the coolness of the air, and the filtered shadows of the trees interact with the architecture, shaping a domestic environment defined by calmness and introspection.
The house does not aim to express itself outwardly. Instead, it operates as a quiet sanctuary — a place that simultaneously protects its inhabitants from the outside world while reconnecting them with the rhythms of the natural landscape.
