The proposal for the housing complex in Kalavryta draws its central idea from the concept of the refuge, as an architectural gesture deeply connected to the mountainous landscape and the memory of the place. The composition approaches habitation as an experience of protection, introversion and viewing, where the dwellings are not treated as autonomous objects but as spatial interventions that emerge organically from the natural relief. Inspired by the local stone-built architecture and the archetypal form of the mountain refuge, the complex is composed of monolithic stone volumes, where materiality and geometry compose an architecture assimilated to the landscape.

The composition is organized as a contemporary topography of habitation, where the primary materiality of stone and exposed concrete converses with the strict geometry, producing spaces integrated into the landscape, introverted and timeless. The shelter is not approached simply as a typological reference but as an experiential condition; an architecture of protection, where matter, light, shadow and landscape constitute the experience of habitation.

The monolithic nature of the volumes expresses a sense of natural continuity with the mountainous terrain, while the linearity of the housing introduces a dynamic gesture of abstraction and modernization, contrasting heaviness and lightness. Through this condition, the complex is shaped as architecture integrated into the place.

The single-pitched roof reinterprets the familiar typology of the mountain hut, while the openings function as engravings in the mass, activating a constant reconciliation of the occupant with the light, the view and the presence of the mountain
