Facade + G.A. Evripiotis
The Elia house project is about combining the island coastline, the sea and the sun of the Aegean Sea. The land’s topography, its magnificent view and the use of traditional Cycladic architecture characteristics are brought together and formulate the team’s design concept.
Most of the house areas are created partially hollowed into the ground, keeping the interior cool during summer and providing protection from the winds. The main structure utilizes sand, stone and cement while cubic shaped geometry and flat roofs are thoroughly combined, preserving the main characteristics of the land area.
Wide openings become essential parts of the main view of the house, allowing for the human connection to the sea and sun of the Aegean.
